About the Job

 

Corix Utilities, a division of Corix, develops customized water, wastewater and energy systems and provides field metering services for clients across North America.​ Our vision is To Build a World of Sustainable Communities by effectively balancing the environmental, social and economic impacts – and benefits – of our utility solutions.

           

Corix Utilities has an immediate opening for a HDPE Fusion Technician Based in Western Canada.  Reporting to the Service Coordinator, the successful candidate must be able to solve problems on site and adapt to municipal and industrial situations. This position will require long hours during the busy season and require out of town services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • HDPE / FPVC Fusion Welding.
  • Mechanical system work including but not limited to fusion equipment rebuilding, overhead crane operation, forklift and machine shop power tool operation to fire hydrant repair and other mechanical water system and waste water system work.
  • Work with municipal and industrial supervisors and industrial leaders to interpret job specifications.
  • Ensure proper procedures and techniques are applied on site to ensure system integrity and performance.
  • Attention to detail, and compliance with high standards of performance and production.
  • Travel required. Schedules shift quickly due to changing project conditions.
  • Must be able to work in an outside environment year-round, sometimes in extreme temperatures exceeding 100 degrees or freezing temperatures.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Some construction or similar experience is preferred (piping or HDPE fusion experience a plus).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ticket in butt fusion welding, electro fusion or extrusion welding an asset.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Problem solving and organizational skills required.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • WHMIS & TDG tickets an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills are needed to effectively coordinate project information with the Client Representative, and our Management Team.
  • Valid Driver’s License with Drivers Abstract.
  • Forklift ticket.
  • HS2 an asset.

 

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to perform physical duties such as  lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted,  bending, twisting, squatting, crawling, reaching, climbing (heights), standing the majority of the day, and walking. Also operates forklift and pallet truck and uses a ladder.
