Our Utilities division develops customized water, wastewater and energy systems and provides field metering services for clients across North America. Our clients include municipalities, resort properties, gas, water and electric utilities, developers and institutions.

 

About the job:

 

Corix Utilities invites applications from candidates with proven skills, qualifications and abilities for the regular full time position of Gasfitter/ Gas Technician (Class A or B) in the Kootenay region (Based in Invermere). Corix Utilities undertakes the construction, operation, and maintenance of multi-utility systems serving various resorts and residential communities throughout BC.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct all gas fittings, installation and repairs.
  • Complete leak surveys.
  • Install and repair underground gas mains and distribution pipes.
  • Complete of work orders and accompanying paperwork as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and ensure maintenance and plant records are accurate and up-to date.
  • Install and service temporary heating, and propane metering, dispensing and pumping equipment.
  • Conduct work on the existing Water System and Waste Water Treatment plants.

 

Working Conditions:

Work in plant and field environments; some exposure to wastewater, chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise; heavy lifting/moving, standing, climbing. May work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions. Will participate in on call and scheduled overtime rotation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years propane-related experience.
  • Current Gas Fitter's License (A or B) and installation experience is required.
  • Demonstrated safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations and practices on a sustained basis.
  • Must be able to exercise judgement; act on own initiative with a sense of responsibility; work independently; maintain a high standard of performance; good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of safety policies, practices and procedures. Lead by example by putting safety first at all times.
  • Knowledge of propane appliances, equipment and plant operations.
  • Training in various areas, including confined space operations will be provided.
  • Ability to maintain logs as required using MS Word and MS Excel and to communicate via email using MS Outlook.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and safe driving record.
  • After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required.
  • Weekend scheduling may be required.
